Norris breaks Verstappen's trophy during Hungary podium celebrations

Max Verstappen’s F1 Hungarian Grand Prix winner’s trophy was accidently broken during the podium celebrations and Lando Norris couldn’t help but laugh.

Lando Norris finished second to Max Verstappen at the Hungaroring for the second consecutive race weekend following a perfect performance.

Verstappen dominated the race in Hungary, winning for the seventh time in a row. Norris finished second just as he did at Silverstone giving him back-to-back podium finishes.

Norris, in keeping with his tradition banged his champagne bottle onto the winners’ podium after each podium finisher received his trophy.

Verstappen’s trophy slipped off the top step and shattered into several pieces following the McLaren driver’s customary podium celebration of smashing his champagne bottle on the podium’s base. Norris and the Red Bull driver were later seen inspecting the broken trophy, with the British driver unable to control his laughing.

Verstappen exited the podium chuckling as he gathered up the broken pieces of the handcrafted porcelain trophy.

“Um… I’m not sure [what happened],” Norris timidly replied when asked what transpired at the FIA press conference following the race. “Er… yeah, not sure, Max just placed it too close to the edge!. It fell over, I guess. Not my problem, it’s his!”

Verstappen said: “I’m going to take it off next time to protect it.”
