Misano WorldSBK FP2: Nicolo Bulega narrowly beats Toprak Razgatlioglu in afternoon practice

Full 2025 Misano WorldSBK FP2 Results – Nicolo Bulega narrowly edged out reigning champion Toprak Razgatlioglu to top Friday afternoon’s practice marked by technical drama and a number of standout performances across the grid.

The session held under rising temperatures and high expectations, set the tone for what promises to be a fiercely competitive weekend in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.

From the outset, the intensity was palpable as championship contenders Bulega and Razgatlioglu had demonstrated formidable pace during the recent Misano test and continued their rivalry into the official sessions.

In FP1, it was Razgatlioglu who set the benchmark, clocking a 1’33.031 to lead the timesheets with Bulega trailing by just over two tenths at 1’33.257.

However, Bulega who was determined to stamp his dominance in front of the Italian fans, changed the narrative in FP2 by producing a stunning lap of 1’32.722, the fastest of the day and the only time to truly threaten the 1’32 barrier.

Razgatlioglu responded valiantly, pushing his BMW M1000RR to the limit but ultimately settled in second, just 0.190 seconds adrift of Bulega’s benchmark. The two were in a class of their own as the only riders to break into the 1’32s throughout Friday’s running.

Behind the headline duel, Barni Spark’s Yari Montella delivered the surprise of the afternoon. The Italian rookie, showing maturity beyond his years, set a 1’33.640 to secure third, just missing out on a top-three overall by a slender margin.

Meanwhile, Alvaro Bautista continued his consistent form by finishing fourth in FP2, only 0.014 seconds behind while Montella’s teammate Danilo Petrucci also impressed, rounding out the top five.

The Yamaha contingent while not quite breaking into the top five impressed with Andrea Locatelli finishing sixth, although his best lap time was cancelled due to a track limits infringement which demoted him from a potential higher position.

Alex Lowes riding the Bimota KB998 Rimini Kawasaki was seventh, marking a return to form for the British rider while Dominique Aegerter finished eighth for GYTR GRT Yamaha.

Andrea Iannone, back from injury, managed to secure ninth place for Team Pata GoEleven Ducati as Axel Bassani on the Bimota Kawasaki rounded out a diverse top ten that featured multiple manufacturers.
