Misano WorldSBK 2025 Superpole Results: Bulega’s lap record tainted by grid penalty

Full Misano WorldSBK 2025 Superpole Results – Nicolo Bulega delivered a stunning lap record breaker at his home event but ultimately lost pole position after he was handed a three-place grid penalty, reshuffling the grid for Race 1.

The Italian rider, already a favorite at Misano due to his recent form and the support of the home crowd, unleashed a breathtaking lap of 1:31.618 on the Aruba. It Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Nicolo Bulega’s time not only secured the top spot on the timesheets but also shattered the previous lap record, setting a new benchmark for WorldSBK machinery at Misano.

Moments before Bulega’s record-breaking run, reigning WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu had himself made history by becoming the first rider to dip below the 1:32 barrier at Misano on a WorldSBK machine.

Razgatlioglu’s 1:31.856 lap briefly put him at the top and sent a shockwave through the paddock, signaling that the Turkish rider was in peak form and ready to challenge for victory.

However, his time would only be good enough for second as Bulega responded with his record lap, underlining the ever-evolving competitive landscape of the series.

Meanwhile Bimota by Kawasaki’s Axel Bassani completed the front row of the grid. His best effort, a 1:32.337, placed him third but notably he was a significant 0.719 seconds adrift of Bulega’s benchmark.

The second row was headed by Sam Lowes who was joined by his twin brother Alex Lowes while Remy Gardner marked the top Yamaha qualifier in sixth.

The third row featured Andrea Iannone followed closely by Andrea Locatelli and Danilo Petrucci who qualified ninth as his teammate Yari Montella completed the top ten.

While the Misano WorldSBK 2025 Superpole was largely represented by clean running, the session ultimately culminated in controversy.

On the first run, an incident at turn 15 involving Danilo Petrucci, Andrea Iannone, and Nicolo Bulega saw Petrucci impeded off the provisional front row.

Both Iannone and Bulega were subsequently placed under investigation for their roles in the incident, and the stewards decision would later impact the starting grid for Race 1.

Ultimately, both Bulega and Iannone were handed three-place grid penalties for slow riding during Superpole meaning that while Bulega’s lap record stood, he would not start from pole in the opening race.

Instead, Razgatlioglu inherited the top spot, with Bassani moving up to second on the grid.
