Alpine repair update after Doohan’s Suzuka crash

Alpine repair update following Jack Doohan’s Suzuka crash during second practice session at the Japanese Grand Prix.

The incident, which happened at Turn 1—a corner notorious for its demanding speed and precision—has been attributed to driver error rather than mechanical failure.

The Alpine repair update comes after the team assessed the damage following Jack Doohan’s Suzuka crash and confirmed that they would be repairing the damaged car rather than building up the spare

Doohan, who is in his rookie season in Formula 1, escaped unharmed from the terrifying accident but his car sustained significant damage leaving the Enstone based outfit with a huge repair job ahead of the weekend’s qualifying and race events.

The damage sustained by Doohan’s A525 is extensive with repairs expected to include replacing key components such as the chassis and suspension system. Fortunately, they have brought a spare chassis to Japan, enabling them to proceed with overnight repairs.

Oakes expressed confidence that Doohan’s car would be ready for Free Practice 3 on Saturday morning but acknowledged that it would require immense effort from his crew.

The Alpine repair update was confirmed on the team’s X account: “The team worked into the night to prepare Car #7 ahead of Saturday’s FP3 and Qualifying.

“All parts have been replaced, bar the Power Unit. The car is ready and prepared for Free Practice 3 at 11:30 (local time).”
