Alex Marquez topped the timesheets on the opening day of MotoGP testing with a blistering lap time of 1:29.262 beating reigning World Champion Marc Marquez who crashed twice but recovered to finish 0.129s behind his younger brother.
Franco Morbidelli made it three Ducatis in the top three, followed by Marco Bezzecchi who led Aprilia’s charge in fourth despite a small crash at Turn 3.
Johann Zarco was the leading Honda in fifth ahead of Raul Fernandez on the Trackhouse Aprilia, while Joan Mir made a late move to seventh on the factory Honda RC213V.
Maverick Vinales was the fastest of the KTMs in eighth, while VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio and factory Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia rounded out the top ten.
