Kimi Antonelli powered the Mercedes W17 to a dominant 1-2 finish on the final day of Formula 1 pre-season testing week 1, signaling strong potential for the Silver Arrows as the new regulations take effect this season.

Antonelli delivered a blistering lap time of 1:33.669 in the afternoon session, beating George Russell’s morning benchmark by 0.249 seconds.

Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton slotted into third place, 0.540s off Antonelli, despite a late off at Turn 8—due to a suspected fuel system leak—triggering a red flag with only 10 minutes remaining.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri impressed in fourth with the day’s record for most laps completed, while Red Bull placed fifth and sixth through Max Verstappen and new teammate Isack Hadjar.

Further down, Haas delivered a solid showing with Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman logging seventh and ninth fastest laps, the duo split by Alpine’s Franco Colapinto.
