The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series points standings have taken on a new shape after Christopher Bell’s breakthrough victory in the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Bell, driving the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, snapped a 33-race winless streak and vaulted from sixth to second in the standings, cutting Denny Hamlin’s pre-race 25-point advantage down to just 12 as the series heads to Gateway for the second race of the Round of 16.
With nine races remaining and the elimination format looming, every position inside the playoff bracket now carries heightened urgency, and the post-Darlington order sets up a fierce battle among the 16 Chase-eligible drivers.
Ty Gibbs dipped two spots to sixth in the standings despite a strong runner-up effort at Darlington, while Joey Logano gained one position to eighth with Chase Elliott dropping one spot to ninth.
Bubba Wallace jumped four spots to tenth, and at the lower end of the bracket William Byron’s three-spot drop to sixteenth places him squarely on the elimination bubble.
