Ferrari dominated the timesheets once again as Lewis Hamilton topped second practice for the 2026 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix ahead of home hero Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
Ferrari sharpened its advantage on the fastest tyre compound late in the session with Hamilton ultimately setting the benchmark at 1:13.026, beating Leclerc by just 0.111 seconds, while Verstappen followed in third, 0.168 seconds adrift.
The second practice at Monaco began under the usual cautious rhythm due to the narrow walls, low-grip surface and tiny margin for error.
Ferrari immediately showed strong pace carried over from first practice, with Leclerc delivering an early 1m13.613s lap to top the provisional times ahead of Hamilton who later responded with a 1m13.671s.
However, the first major incident came just 12 minutes in when Lando Norris stopped his McLaren near the Nouvelle Chicane due to a suspected battery-related issue, bringing out the Virtual Safety Car and pausing the session.
Once running resumed, Verstappen was among the first to make the switch to soft tyres and briefly moved to the top of the timing screen with a 1:13.467. At that stage, Hamilton and Leclerc were still finding time on medium tyres, and both improved enough to second and third.
Ferrari regained complete control after switching to softs, with Hamilton clocking a 1:13.026 flyer which remained unbeaten through the final 22 minutes, as Leclerc slotted in just behind him by a little over a tenth.

The final interruption came with under five minutes left after Sergio Perez stopped near Casino with smoke coming from his Cadillac. The front-right brake glowed red as Perez pulled over in the runoff area before it caught fire, prompting a late red flag which effectively ended the running.
Verstappen settled for third with a 1m13.194s, followed by Mercedes duo of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Isack Hadjar recovered from a late start to FP2 after his FP1 crash to finish sixth for Red Bull, just 0.001s ahead of Oscar Piastri in the leading McLaren. Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto took eighth and ninth with Haas’ Oliver Bearman wrapping up the top 10.
