Alex Marquez delivered a record breaking lap to top Friday afternoon’s session while Fabio Quartararo was second fastest – Full MotoGP Silverstone Practice Results 2025.

The second practice of the day was crucial for direct Q2 qualification, with the world’s elite riders pushing the limits of their machines and themselves, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive British MotoGP race weekend.

As the session began, anticipation was high following Marc Marquez’s pace-setting performance in Practice 1. The Silverstone Circuit, renowned for its fast, flowing layout and technical challenges was expected to favor riders with a smooth, aggressive style.

Early on, Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi set the initial benchmark, clocking a 1:58.349 as teams focused on race simulations and tyre evaluations. The field quickly settled into a rhythm with riders alternating between long runs and time-attack laps, searching for the perfect setup to balance outright speed and tire longevity.

BK8 Gresini’s Alex Marquez had been tipped by his brother Marc as a likely contender at Silverstone and he lived up to that billing. In the closing stages with the field ramping up the pace, Alex unleashed a blistering 1:57.295 on his final flying lap, shattering the previous lap record and seizing the top spot by a razor-thin margin of 0.047 seconds.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo emerged as Marquez’s closest challenger. He was consistently among the fastest throughout the afternoon practice, briefly holding provisional P1 with a 1:57.342 before being eclipsed by Marquez’s record lap.

Meanwhile, Jack Miller completed the top three for Pramac Yamaha. The Australian’s 1:57.642 marked his best Friday showing of the season, highlighting the progress Yamaha has made with the M1 package.

Championship leader Marc Marquez endured a more challenging second session. An early crash disrupted his rhythm but the factory Ducati Lenovo rider recovered to post a 1:57.655, good enough for fourth.

Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi finished fifth closely followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio who slotted into sixth for Pertamina VR46 Racing, ensuring another Ducati presence in the upper echelons of the timesheets.

Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia faced a tense session after struggling to find the sweet spot with his Ducati GP25, spending much of FP2 outside the top ten. In the closing minutes, he latched onto Bezzecchi for a tow and managed a 1:57.703, rescuing seventh place and a direct Q2 berth.

Honda’s Johann Zarco was the top representative for the Japanese marque, placing eighth on the LCR Honda Castrol machine. Yamaha’s Alex Rins and Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer rounded out the top ten.
