Takuma Sato recorded the second-fastest lap at 225.415 mph closely followed by Scott Dixon at 225.200 mph, reinforcing their reputations as strong contenders for the race. Devlin DeFrancesco enjoyed his strongest day of the month, securing the fourth-fastest time for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Newgarden’s teammate, Will Power, who also faces a similar penalty and will start at the back, posted the fifth-fastest lap, further highlighting Team Penske’s competitive edge despite their starting positions.
Felix Rosenqvist, Helio Castroneves, Pato O’Ward, David Malukas and Conor Daly completed the top ten. However, the session was not without its challenges and drama as Sato, Graham Rahal, and Ryan Hunter-Reay all faced mechanical issues.
