Ferrari gives a glimpse of new Le Mans Hypercar

Ferrari has teased an image of the new Le Mans Hypercar, which will compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time in 50 years.

Ferrari has announced that it will compete in the new Hypercar class at Le Mans in 2023 marking the first time in 50 years it will compete for the overall victory in the historic event.

The Italian manufacturer also unveiled the first teaser for the car that will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship. It’s going to be lovely, based on the lone image.

The image render shows how the Ferrari factory’s four-wheel-drive hybrid prototype that will compete in the World Endurance Championship next year including the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The first images of Ferrari’s LMH were released at one minute past four o’clock on Friday, exactly 49 years after the final factory Ferrari prototype finished at Le Mans on June 10, 1973.

According to Ferrari, the LMH has significant design parallels to the stylistic characteristics that identify the cars in the Prancing Horse series.

Previous Ferrari announcements about the company’s return to the top flight of sportscar racing, which was confirmed in February 2021, did not feature any photographs.

The new car’s testing schedule was announced in a press statement issued on Friday and they only stated that the prototype will commence its first development tests.

However, based on the Hypercar class requirements, we can make some educated guesses. The cars must have a hybrid system and produce no more than 670 horsepower. They must also weigh at least 2,270 pounds.

Ferrari has also developed hybrids before, such as the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB.

Though Ferrari will not be challenged by Ford, they will be challenged by General Motors as Cadillac just unveiled the Project GTP Hypercar, a 5.5-liter V8-powered vehicle.
