Felipe Drugovich set for Formula E debut with Mahindra at Berlin E-Prix

Brazilian racing talent Felipe Drugovich is set to make his highly anticipated Formula E debut as a substitute for Nyck de Vries at Mahindra Racing during this weekend’s Berlin E-Prix.

The move, announced in early July 2025, marks a pivotal moment not only for Drugovich’s burgeoning career but also for Mahindra Racing as they navigate a crucial juncture in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The decision comes as 2020-21 Formula E world champion Nyck de Vries is unavailable due to clashing commitments with Toyota in the FIA World Endurance Championship in Sao Paulo.

Drugovich’s entry into the all-electric series is expected to inject fresh energy and technical prowess into Mahindra’s campaign, as the team continues its upward trajectory in the highly competitive championship.

Felipe Drugovich’s appointment as a substitute driver is the culmination of years of preparation, testing, and consistent performance across various motorsport disciplines.

The 25 year-old driver has already established himself as a formidable force having clinched the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2022 and serving as Aston Martin Formula 1 reserve driver. His journey to Formula E has been characterized by adaptability, technical acumen, and a relentless drive to succeed.

Notably, Drugovich is no stranger to the unique demands of electric racing, having participated in multiple rookie tests with Maserati MSG Racing where he topped the timesheets in Rome and Berlin, demonstrating both speed and a rapid learning curve.

The Berlin E-Prix, scheduled for July 12 and 13 at the iconic Tempelhof Airport circuit will see Drugovich partnering with Mahindra’s full-time driver Edoardo Mortara.

This pairing is particularly noteworthy as both drivers bring a wealth of experience from different racing backgrounds, creating a dynamic and versatile lineup for Mahindra.

Mortara, a proven race winner in Formula E, has already contributed significantly to the team’s points tally this season, helping Mahindra ascend to fifth in the teams’ Formula E standings with four rounds remaining.

The addition of Drugovich is expected to bolster the team’s prospects, especially given his familiarity with the Berlin circuit and the Gen3 Evo car, which he tested extensively in Spain ahead of his debut.
