Assen MotoGP 2025 Sprint Results: Marquez brothers snag 1-2 victory

Full Assen MotoGP 2025 Sprint Results – The Marquez brothers dominated Saturday’s race at the TT with Marc crossing the finish line just 0.351 seconds ahead of Alex to mark his ninth Sprint race win of the season.

Starting from fourth on the grid, Marc Marquez demonstrated remarkable pace and precision to surge to the front early in the 13-lap sprint at the iconic TT Circuit Assen, held under overcast skies that added a layer of unpredictability to the race conditions.

At the start, pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo made an excellent getaway maintaining the holeshot into the first corner, Haarbocht. Meanwhile, Marc who started from fourth was quick to respond, launching a bold move around the outside of the riders ahead to take second behind the Yamaha.

The initial battle between Marquez and Quartararo was intense with the two riders even making slight contact as Marquez attempted to overtake.

Despite Quartararo’s defensive riding and momentary success at the first corner, Marquez’s superior pace and determination saw him overtake the 2021 champion at the final chicane by the end of the first lap, taking the lead.

Alex Marquez followed his brother closely to also pass Quartararo, demoting the Frenchman to third place momentarily before Marco Bezzecchi slipped past the Yamaha at the end of the second lap, pushing the former world champion further down the order.

Marc Marquez’s Ducati Lenovo GP25 showed exceptional speed especially in the final sector of the TT Circuit where he consistently posted the fastest times, allowing him to maintain his lead all the way to the checkered flag despite a brief moment of drifting wide mid-race.

However, pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo’s day ultimately ended prematurely when he crashed out at Turn 10 on lap nine, a huge blow to his championship hopes. Other riders who failed to finish included Joan Mir and Raul Fernandez, both of whom crashed out early in the race.

Behind the Marquez brothers, Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi secured his first MotoGP Sprint podium of the year. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished an impressive fourth for VR46 after passing Francesco Bagnaia at the final corner on lap six, leaving the latter to settle for fifth.

Maverick Viñales was the top KTM rider in sixth followed by Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer who delivered impressive results despite receiving a long lap penalty for exceeding track limits.

Franco Morbidelli jumped to eighth after Pedro Acosta’s 3-second post-race penalty for failing to serve a long-lap penalty during the race which dropped him to ninth despite crossing the finish line in seventh.

Acosta’s KTM teammate Brad Binder rounded out the top ten.
