A Red Bull 2025 F1 livery change is imminent as the team seemingly grants reigning World Champion Max Verstappen’s request for a refreshed look.
This marks a possible departure from the team’s traditional matte blue color scheme which has been a signature element since 2016.
Max Verstappen who has clinched the last four consecutive F1 titles expressed his desire for a Red Bull 2025 F1 livery change, suggesting that “it’s nice to spice things up a little bit” after years of the same aesthetic.
“The livery, I hope it’s a bit different, we’ve had so many matte-blue cars, but I think sometimes it’s just nice to spice it up a little bit,” the Dutchman said in December.
The official unveiling of the RB21 livery is scheduled for February 18 at the F1 75 Live event in London, with a shakedown run in Bahrain preceding pre-season testing.
Red Bull’s livery has remained remarkably consistent since joining Formula 1 in 2005, with only minor adjustments for sponsors and a shift to the matte finish in 2016.
While these subtle changes have maintained a degree of freshness, Verstappen’s call for a more significant alteration signals a potential shift in the team’s approach to its visual branding.
The Milton-Keynes based outfit has a history of experimenting with special liveries typically on a temporary basis. One notable example is the black and white “Camo Bull” design used during pre-season testing in 2015 which became a fan favorite.
The team also introduced one-off designs for testing in 2018 and 2019, generating considerable excitement among fans.
Additionally, Red Bull’s sister team, now known as VCARB, has showcased alternative liveries, demonstrating a willingness to explore different aesthetics within the Red Bull family.
The teaser released by Red Bull suggests a departure from the norm, sparking speculation among fans about the possible changes. Some hope for a return to a glossy finish, while others envision a design inspired by the team’s memorable special liveries from the past.
Red Bull may have unveiled the race overalls that its drivers will wear in a post celebrating the 23rd birthday of Verstappen’s teammate for the 2025 F1 season, Liam Lawson.
The overalls appear to be identical save for a deep red line that runs down the waist and along the arm and their new partner Gate.io stands above the Honda branding on the chest.

Given Verstappen’s growing influence within the team, his comments may have been a catalyst for the potential Red Bull 2025 F1 livery change.
As the reigning champion continues to achieve remarkable success on the track, the visual refresh could be part of a broader strategy to celebrate his accomplishments and keep the team’s image engaging for fans.
The Formula 1 community eagerly awaits the unveiling of the RB21 in London, anticipating how Red Bull will interpret Verstappen’s request for a bold new look for 2025 F1.
