Charles Leclerc maintained impressive form to go fastest during the afternoon session, completing a clean sweep of Friday’s practice runs – Full Monaco Grand Prix FP2 Results 2025 F1.
The Monegasque driver set the fastest lap time of 1:11.355, edging out McLaren’s Oscar Piastri by a mere 0.038 seconds setting the stage for a potentially electrifying qualifying session and race day.
Monaco Grand Prix FP2 began under clear skies and typical Monte Carlo conditions, with teams eager to maximize their limited track time on one of the most challenging circuits in Formula 1.
The narrow, twisty layout of Monaco leaves little margin for error and this was evident as early incidents punctuated the session.
Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar was the first to encounter trouble, clipping the edge at Turn 10 and suffering significant wheel damage. He managed to limp back to the pits but was forced to miss a portion of the session for repairs.
Shortly thereafter, Oscar Piastri brought out the red flags after locking up heavily into the iconic Sainte-Dévote corner. The Australian was fortunate to escape with only a damaged front wing which his McLaren team swiftly replaced, allowing him to return to the track and ultimately secure second place.

As the session progressed, the focus shifted to long runs and qualifying simulations. Leclerc put in a lap good enough for third on the hard tires before switching to softs and setting the benchmark time.
His teammate Lewis Hamilton also put in a strong showing, finishing third and just over a tenth behind Leclerc while Lando Norris took fourth, less than a second off the pace, suggesting that McLaren could be a genuine threat come qualifying.
The midfield battles were equally intriguing. Racing Bulls saw both Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar finish fifth and sixth respectively despite the earlier incident.
However, the senior Red Bull team struggled with Max Verstappen languishing in tenth place and Yuki Tsunoda just behind in eleventh. Verstappen’s session was further hampered by a brief stoppage at Mirabeau, where he struggled to find reverse gear after coming to a halt on Monaco’s narrow streets.
Aston Martin and Williams also showed promising pace with Fernando Alonso finishing seventh and Alexander Albon eighth. Both teams appeared to have made progress with their setups and if they can maintain this form, they could be in contention for strong points finishes come race day.
Mercedes, meanwhile, had a mixed session. Rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli impressed with a ninth-place finish while George Russell was further back in twelfth.
