The iconic six-hour endurance race is scheduled for Sunday, June 22, 2025, with all four classes—GTP, LMP2, GTD PRO, and GTD—returning to action at the 3.4-mile road course in upstate New York.
At the forefront of the IMSA Watkins Glen 2025 entry list is the GTP class, which boasts a season-high 13 entries, equaling the turnout seen at Sebring.
The GTP field is headlined by the return of the No. 5 Proton Competition Porsche 963 and the No. 63 Automobili Lamborghini Squadra Corse Lamborghini SC63, both making their third appearances of the year.
Proton Competition’s driver lineup features Neel Jani, Nico Varrone, and Nico Pino, with Varrone making his GTP debut in IMSA after previous outings in GTD PRO with Corvette Racing/Pratt Miller Motorsports.
The No. 63 Lamborghini, operated by the Riley team, will be piloted by former Formula 1 drivers Romain Grosjean and Daniil Kvyat, who are eager to complete their first race of the 2025 season.

Porsche 963 RSP: Le Mans hypercar goes street legal
The LMP2 category makes its much-anticipated return to the IMSA grid with a robust lineup of 12 teams. The class features minimal changes to driver rosters, though notable adjustments include Scott Huffaker joining High Class Racing in place of Laurents Hoerr and Nico Varrone stepping in for Henrik Hedman at DragonSpeed.
In the GT ranks, both GTD PRO and GTD classes present impressive entry numbers, with 10 and 21 cars respectively.
