Gino Borsoi appointed as new Pramac Ducati team boss

Ducati MotoGP boss Davide Tardozzi announced former grand prix racer Gino Borsoi as the new Pramac Ducati team boss.

This comes after the Italian manufacturer revealed how it will distribute its MotoGP bikes for the 2023 season across its four teams.

Davide Tardozzi acknowledged a reduction in the Italian company’s factory assistance for 2023, reducing the number of new machines Ducati would provide to independent-class teams from three to two.

Tardozzi confirmed a reduced allocation of works-spec Desmosedicis for the upcoming season, with only the Pramac duo of Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco set to receive the same-spec bikes as factory riders Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini. This move not only allows the factory to possibly better focus its attention but also potentially resolves a problem in terms of treating VR46 and Gresini equally.

In addition, Tardozzi announced that Gino Borsoi, a former grand prix racer and current Aspar team manager, will take over as team manager for the Pramac team. Borsoi will replace Francesco Guidotti, who left Pramac to lead KTM’s factory effort at the beginning of 2022.

“I think that Paolo Campinoti[Pramac owner] did a very nice choice, because Gino is a very talented and experienced team manager,” said Tardozzi.

“We are really, really, really happy to have Gino onboard.”

Tardozzi has previous experience working with the Italian back when Aspar was a satellite Ducati MotoGP team.

Borsoi brings a reputation as a skilled people manager to fill the void left by Guidotti, who had a similar reputation in the squad before leaving for the Austrian brand.

Borsoi has experience working with a Pramac rider as well as Jorge Martin competed with Aspar in 2016 and finished third, earning his first-ever grand prix podium in just his second season in the Moto3 division.
