Kevin Magnussen to have a new race engineer for Belgian Grand Prix

In light of Ed Regan’s impending departure from the team, Haas has revealed that Kevin Magnussen will have a new race engineer for the forthcoming F1 tripleheader.

Since his return to Formula One this year, Magnussen has been engineered by Regan, but he’ll have to get used to a temporary new voice on the radio in Belgium, and the next F1 rounds in Netherlands, and Italy.

“For the Belgian, Dutch and Italian Grands Prix, the No.20 car of Kevin Magnussen will be race engineered by Dominic Haines,” said a Haas spokesperson. “Ed Regan has transitioned to an office-based role prior to his departure from the team towards the end of the season.

“Dominic, who previously race engineered both Romain Grosjean and Nikita Mazepin before assuming a non-travelling role within the team, will stand in prior to the commencement of a new race engineer for Magnussen, expected by the Singapore Grand Prix.”

Magnussen has had a successful return to Formula 1 this year and is currently ranked 11th in the drivers standings, however he is 19 points behind Fernando Alonso, who is ranked 10th.

Haas has improved this year after finishing last in the constructors’ championship last season and earning no points.

While Magnussen’s fifth-place finish at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix remains the team’s best finish, it has routinely contested the top 10 despite having only made one significant upgrade thus far.
