Lando Norris all set for Monaco Grand Prix despite feeling unwell

Lando Norris had a difficult weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix after feeling unwell but he has expressed optimism that he will be able to bounce back at the next event on the calendar in Monaco.

Lando Norris confesses that he has been concentrating on his recovery in the lead up to the Monaco Grand Prix after suffering from illness in Spain last time around.

The British driver had been sick all weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, revealing after qualifying that he was having problems with his voice, vision, and energy levels.

Despite this, Norris finished eighth in Sunday’s race, but was brought to the hospital for precautionary medical checks due to the extremely hot conditions in the Spanish Grand Prix. He later revealed that he had tonsillitis and that the Spanish Grand Prix had been one of the “hardest races” he had ever run.

Norris only has a few days to prepare for the upcoming race in Monaco, which will be the second leg of a back-to-back race weekend following the Spanish Grand Prix.

However, the McLaren driver has had success on the track in the past. He finished on the podium in 2021 and is looking forward to a strong weekend this season. Norris has also embraced the thought of racing so close to home, having recently moved to the Principality.

“I always look forward to the Monaco weekend,” Norris explained. “It will be nice to be racing so close to home, particularly as I can wake up in my own bed! Last year it was a fantastic race for me and whilst we’re not back at that level just yet, I’m hoping we can pick up some good points here.”

“Qualifying on Saturday is going to be key but it will be interesting to see how the race plays out on Sunday with these new cars.”

Norris stated that he planned to rest before the Monaco Grand Prix because of his health.

“I’m taking these few days to rest up and to focus on getting better before diving into Monaco,” he said. “Spain was incredibly tough, but I was very pleased to get some points for the team.”

“Let’s keep moving forward and ensure we’re ready for the busy weekend ahead!”
