MotoGP riders rally through Jakarta with the president ahead of Indonesian MotoGP

On Wednesday, a group of MotoGP riders met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the state palace in Jakarta, ahead of the second round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship, which takes place this weekend.

MotoGP riders rallied from the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, for a motorcade parade going through Medan Merdeka Barat Road and finishing at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, the Palace’s south ahead of Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.

Before the motorcade, President Joko Widodo facilitated the 20 MotoGP racers at a crowd of people in the Merdeka Palace. The president from that point flagged off the racers to begin the motorcade.

MotoGP will make its 25th appearance at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit in Lombok, bringing the country back into the spotlight for motorsport fans.

Joko Widodo stated at the occasion that all 60 thousand tickets for the event had been sold out.

20 riders including Marc Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Johann Zarco, Alex Marquez and Joan Mir then, at that point, hit the roads of the capital city in an exceptional motorcade waved off by Joko Widodo.

Prior to the event, the Greater Jakarta Police had affirmed that the Medan Merdeka Barat Road, MH Thamrin Road, and Hotel Indonesia Roundabout will be shut from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. neighborhood time (UTC +7) for the MotoGP racers’ motorcade.

The territorial police’s Traffic Director Senior Commissioner, Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, expressed that the main road towards the south street segment from the Palace to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout will be shut, while the opposite toward the north segment will stay open.
